ALBANY, Ore. -- Part two of High School GameDay started off with a match-up of cross-town rivals, West Albany and South Albany.
In the third quarter, tied at 14, the Bulldogs' Anthony LaCoste scores from 17 yards out to put West up 21-14. LaCoste also scored later in the quarter. Also in the third, Jackson Rupert scored on a 31-yard run, and the Bulldogs cruised in the second half to win 42-20.
Corvallis also had to take on their cross-town rival, facing off against the Raiders of Crescent Valley. In the first quarter, the Raiders struck first off of a 15-yard run by Gant Mattis. Later in the quarter, Crescent Valley running back Andre Olgesby ran it in from four yards, and the Raiders were up 14-0. Crescent Valley snaps an eight game losing streak to Corvallis with the 49-13 win.
In 1A, eight-man football, Mohawk cruised to a 58-14 win over Siletz Valley. The Indians' Cord Wilkins returned the opening kickoff to Siletz Valley's ten yard line, and that set up the first score for Mohawk.
Back to 6A, Roseburg took on Southwestern unbeaten South Medford. In the first quarter, the Indians' Josh Weaver powered his way into the endzone for the 25-yard score, and Roseburg took the early 7-0 lead. In the second half, Roseburg continued to dominate. Already up 24-0, Roseburg quarterback Thaddeus Davis found Micah Audiss for a 25-yard touchdown, and then in the fourth, Derek Priestly ran 60 yards for the score, and the Indians won 48-7.
In 4A Val-Co play, Sweet Home and Central battled it out for first place in the conference. In the second quarter, the Panthers were in control and added to their sizeable lead with a 35 yard field goal. At that point, it was 37-13 Panthers. Later in the game, Central quarterback Grant Hedrick connected with Ty Phillips for a long pass play to set up a two-yard touchdown pass from Hedrick to David Olson. Sweet Home never was able to rally, and Central won easily 58-13.
South Umpqua also hosted North bend on Friday. Led by quarterback Dalton Iveans, North bend cruised to a 43-22 win.
