EUGENE, OR - Saying he's never been "uncleared" to play, Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas expects to suit up Saturday when the Ducks visit Colorado.
Thomas spoke to the media on Wednesday for the first time since last Saturday's victory over Arizona State. Thomas said he's been taking reps with the first team offense this week and he expects to play against Colorado this Saturday. He also insisted that his knee injury is not similar in scope to teammate LaMichael James' elbow injury
"Knee's doing good," said Thomas. "I have never been uncleared or anything like that. I ain't in the same situation as LaMichael."
Head coach Chip Kelly, of course, didn't confirm any of that.
"Darron's done a great job (in practice)," said Kelly. "So, if you guys are going to ask me about reps, we don't talk about that. So, let's move on. Carson Palmer had great day today as a matter of fact. He came up just before going to the Raiders and he got a couple reps. So, we got him five or six reps with us. Just got him in, but it was just Oakland Raider plays. It wasn't our plays."
Coach Kelly did say that Thomas is the number quarterback on the depth chart with Bryan Bennett number two and Marcus Mariota number three.
