115th Civil War: History lesson for the Beavers
With ten true freshmen playing for the Beavers this season, Mike Riley decided to give his team a three-day history lesson on the Civil War.
He showed them highlights from previous games to give his team a sense of the environment come game time.
"Of all the stuff, besides the history and all that, it's going to be football on Saturday,” said Riley. “It's going to be blocking and tackling and throwing and catching. So we have to have a great week of practice."
"It's a rivalry game, so you're obviously not going to like the team you play,” said Jordan Poyer, who is from Astoria. “They're 40 miles from here and being from the state of Oregon, when I go home I have to hear about it."
"It's football,” said James Rodgers. “I think most of that is for the fans but at the same time it's for bragging rights and of course both teams want to win, but there can only be one winner."
As for Rodgers injury, he was seen wearing a boot on Tuesday after he sprained his ankle against Washington. He said that if the game was Tuesday, he could play. So expect to see him out there on Saturday.
