Oregon State running back Jacquizz Rodgers set a goal of breaking out with a big run before the Beavers' game against Portland State.

Mark it done.

Quizz, as he is known, ran 43 yards for a touchdown in the Beavers' 34-7 victory over the Vikings. It was one of his career-high three TD runs in the opener.

Watch KVAL Sports highlights of the game:

"Well, that was a semi-long run," he shrugged. "It was one of my longest runs since I've been at Oregon State. It just felt pretty good to kind of get the burden off my back a little bit since I've been trying to break one like that for a while now."

Rodgers certainly silenced all of the questions about whether he would be the same after offseason rotator cuff surgery.

Even though he missed the final two games of last season, Rodgers rushed for 1,253 yards, a Pac-10 record for a freshman. He also was the first freshman to be named the league's player of the year.
