Police: 'He was urinating on a computer'
CORVALLIS, Ore. - In a quiet neighborhood just blocks from the Oregon State University campus, police responded to a report of a burglary last weekend.
This one was a little different.
"It's not something that really happens on a nightly basis here in Corvallis," said Christine Peterson with the Corvallis Police Department.
In particular, this case stands out for what police saw when they got into the house: they found Oregon State football player Tyler Thomas drunk and tearing up a room of people he didn't know.
"My understanding is he was damaging some of the upstairs office property," Peterson said, "and I believe he was urinating on a computer."
That wasn't all: police said they found Thomas naked in the upstairs office. He wouldn't listen to them - and instead got into a three-point stance.
That is when the officers shocked him with Tasers.
"The officers' feeling that he was being aggressive towards them and not complying with their verbal commands to get on the ground, they felt it was justified," Peterson said.
A spokesperson from Oregon State's football team said Thomas was suspended for the year after the incident.
Did Thomas give any indication to his coach as to why he was in this home?
"Uh, no, not to my knowledge," said Steve Fenk, the associate athletic director. "Just he was very remorseful.
"Tyler's a very nice person, very smart," Fenk added, "although he made a very unfortunate decision here and he's got to live with the consequences."
