Ducks of Destiny?
The Ducks are early three point favorites against USC this Saturday.
One would think you would have to go way back in the archives to find the last time a USC football team came to Eugene as the underdog in the rankings. In actuality, it last happened in Oregon's Fiesta Bowl year of 2002. The Ducks were then ranked fourteen, USC ranked fifteen. The Trojans won 44-33. The consensus number five team in the country is set to embark on the first of the final five steps to the Rose Bowl and maybe even national champion contention for Oregon. USC and unbeaten Arizona State are set to visit Eugene on consecutive weekends. USC has won the past three in the series. Troy's last trip to Autzen was a 45-13 romp let by Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush in 2005. The Trojans may have a new look, but they are still ranked 9th in the country. Saturday's kickoff at high noon marks the first time that two top ten teams have ever met up at Autzen. |
