Sen. Barack Obama accepts a University of Oregon jersey from basketball coach Ernie Kent on May 9. Kent wasn't smiling after the Ducks posted their worst season in 17 years. Sources tell KVAL News he'll get another shot at the helm next season.

EUGENE, Ore. -- After more than two weeks deliberating a tough decision, it appears as though University of Oregon athletic director Pat Kilkenny has decided to spare men's basketball coach Ernie Kent.

Sources have confirmed to KVAL News that Kent will have at least one more year to turn things around and that he has offered to make some sort of change to his staff.

Kent's Ducks suffered through the worst regular season in 17 years, finishing with an 8-and-23 record.

An official announcement from the athletic department is expected Wednesday.
