Kayak competition in the water heating up

At Echo Hollow pool, athletes were stepping up to the water holding paddles.  They were part of a kayak competition and kayak rodeo.  One of our news crews got some shots of Quinn Connell, a "youth kayaker" who knows his moves.

Kayak competition in the water heating up

As part of an international kayak competition, World Kayak Hometown Throwdowns in 61 cities in North America, Echo Hollow Pool in Eugene sponsored a kayak competition.  On Thursday, July 16th, men and women, boys and girls participated in the competition to show off their skills in the water.  Special moves included the cartwheel, the loop and the stick wheel. 

Organizers will host the Redsides Rodeo for kayakers on the McKenzie River during the weekend on August 28 at 6 p.m. and August 29 at 10 a.m.  Contact James at james@worldkayak.com for more information.
