EUGENE, Ore. -- The Ducks and Beavers will be gunning for teams from California this year -- and working to keep rivals from Washington at bay.
The University of Oregon Ducks got one vote for number one and third place overall in the Pac-10 preseason poll.
The Oregon State University Beavers were fourth in the poll.
USC took the top position, with 28 of the 32 voters picking them to win the Pac-10. California got three votes for the top spot, with the Ducks picking up the remaining vote.
The University of Washington Huskies and Washington State Cougars were picked to finish 9th and 10th.
"Seven-time defending Pac-10 champion USC is no surprise as the choice to win the 2009 Pacific-10 Conference football title in a preseason poll of West Coast media members who regularly cover the league," according to a Pac-10 press release. "The media poll has correctly selected the Conference Champion in 26 of 48 previous polls, including the last nine years in a row."
