BSU students: Duck tickets went too fast
BOISE - Boise State student tickets for Thursday's matchup between the Broncos and the University of Oregon Ducks sold out in a little over an hour Monday.

But some students say an unfair system has left many of them without tickets and upset while fellow students are trying to make a profit.

When the blinds went up, so did the cheers. Thousands of students had on happy faces after getting their tickets to Thursday's big game.

"Ya, baby!" one student yelled after leaving the ticket office.

But for Melissa Daniels that feeling wasn't shared.

"It's very frustrating," she said.

Daniel's husband is a full time student at Boise State. While he was in class, she waited in line for two hours only to find out: "I was not able to get any tickets at all."

Her issue isn't necessarily with students who camped out over night. What bothers her the most is students who are now looking to make a little money.

It is legal in Idaho to scalp tickets, even college sport tickets. And Boise State allows students to bring up to three valid student ID's to get three free student tickets as well as three $32 guest passes.

On the Boise Craigslist tickets page, student tickets were being offered for sale for $50. Other seats were being offered with asking prices as high as $325 apiece.

When asked if the student ticket system is fair the head of ticket operations responded: "It's always worked in the past. This is how we have always done it," said Anita Guerricabeita.

But Daniels thinks the system is flawed.

"This enables people to do this - to be able to scalp," she said.

Since Monday morning a number of postings have shown up on Craigslist by people trying to selling their free student tickets and guest passes for more than twice what they paid have been flagged. And even Guerricabeita says it's sad to see so many students who want to the go to the game not get tickets.

But she warns anyone thinking about buying a scalped ticket to be careful about while shelling out the green.

"Why would you buy a scalped ticket when you can come to Bronco stadium and purchase a season ticket for $264 and see every game?" Guerricabeita said.

Daniels thinks it's time for the Broncos to buck it's student ticket system and not give any student the chance to make money.

"This shouldn't be going on and I hope that BSU takes a look at it," she said.

Guerricabeita agrees it might be time to re-evaluate the ticket process for students so that students who want to go to the game can.

She also warns anyone thinking about buying a student ticket that they need to be a Boise State student with a valid ID. She says ID's will be checked at the gate with the ticket and if someone doesn’t have an ID they won't be able to get into the stadium.
