PULLMAN, Wa. -- Oregon State took care of business on Saturday, potentially setting up a winner-take-all Civil War matchup against Oregon in less than two weeks.

The Beavers were all over Washington State, beating the Cougars 42-10. Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns, and quarterback Sean Canfield completed 21 of 28 passes and threw for two touchdowns as well.

If Oregon wins on Saturday against Arizona, the winner of the Civil War on December 3 will go on to the Rose Bowl to play Big Ten champion Ohio State.

For Washington State, the Cougars continued to struggle on both sides of the football. Washington State mustered only 191 yards on offense, and allowed Oregon State to gain 564 yards of offense.

The Beavers struck early and often on Saturday, and they never allowed the Cougars to gain much momentum.

The first score for the Beavers was off the first posession of the game. Canfield completed the 10 play, 80-yard drive with an 11-yard touchdown pass to receiver Damola Adeniji, and Oregon State led 7-0.

Washington State got on the board midway through the first, with a 29-yard made field goal by kicker Patrick Rooney. But Oregon State struck right back, when Rodgers scored his first touchdown of the day, a 10-yard run to put the score at 14-3.

In the second quarter, Canfield threw for his second touchdown when he found Joe Halahuni for a ten-yard touchdown. The Beavers led 21-3.

Near the end of the first half, the Cougars attempted to get back in it. With ten seconds left in the half, Washington State running back Dwight Tardy ran it in from a yard out, and the halftime score was 21-10.

However in the second half, the Beavers defense clamped down on Washington State and the offense continued to roll. Beavers freshman Markus Wheaton ran for a ten yard score in the third to extend the lead to 28-10, and Oregon State scored two more touchdowns in the fourth.

Jacquizz Rodgers rumbled for a 39-yard touchdown, and then freshman Jovan Stevenson ran for a three-yard touchdown to make the final score 42-10 Oregon State.

The Beavers now have almost two weeks to prepare for the Ducks and the Civil War. The Cougars play at Washington next Saturday.
