Less than two years away from being of legal age to drive in the streets, Winston's Ricky "Hot Rod" Perry rips around the paved oval of Douglas County Speedway.
Last year, his first in the junior hornet class, Perry won the points championship.
Perry first cut his racing teeth driving an outlaw cart, a go-cart sized sprint car. His father, Ricky Perry Senior, surprised junior with the $300 yellow #23 four-cylinder 1986 Toyota Celica (10 years older than Ricky).
Of course, every good racer needs a good right hand man. Hot Rod has that in one of his good buddies, Tristan. Perry refers to him as his "one man pit crew."
