Wheating agrees to endorsement deal with Nike

BOSTON (AP) — Former University of Oregon standout runner Andrew Wheating has agreed to an endorsement deal with Nike, his management company announced.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed Wednesday. Wheating will still train and live in Eugene, Ore.

Wheating was a highly decorated runner for the Ducks as he captured five national titles, including the 800- and 1,500-meter races at the NCAA championships in June.

He also was an eight-time All-American and made the U.S. team in the 800 for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Wheating, who's originally from Norwich, Vt., left Oregon with school records in the indoor 800 and the outdoor mile, along with helping set the mark in the distance medley relay.
