Mary's Peak Campground is rather quaint and quiet. There are just six sites for tent campers, but they are all heavily shaded by Douglas Fir.

"There's gravel right into them," said Siuslaw National Forest Information Assistant Katie Sapp. "So, you can pull cars right in. The access is pretty easy. Then the camping is relatively soft for tent camping because there's quite a lot of duff under the trees."

Bring your mountain bike or your hiking boots if you stay at Mary's Peak. There are several trails that wind their way to the top of the mountain.

"Each trail offers a little bit different view of the peak," said Sapp. "The Meadowedge Trail takes you along the edge of the botanical area. So you can see lots of wild flowers in bloom. The East Ridge and North Ridge both have different types of timber."

If you're going to camp at Mary's Peak Campground you might as well go to the summit of Mary's Peak, the highest point in the Coast Range, where there's a great viewpoint of the coast and the Cascades. The summit, at 4,097-feet, is well worth the bike or hike.
