Ducks' Dion Jordan focused on getting after quarterbacks

EUGENE, OR - He's on four preseason watch lists and you can count on opposing quarterbacks to keep an eye out for Oregon's Dion Jordan this season.

The former tight end who switched to defensive end in the spring of 2010 looks to build on his impressive numbers from 2011. In 14 games last year, Jordan tallies 13 tackles for loss, including seven and a half sacks.

Jordan knows the importance of getting to the quarterback.

"Oh, it's very important," said Jordan. "Every time you're able to get after the opposing team's quarterback, it's a plus. Every time our quarterback isn't getting hit, it's a major plus. That's my goal every game, to try to get after the opposing team's quarterback."

To get better in 2012, Jordan says he's learning from some of the former great Duck defensive ends.

"That's my main focus this year, getting after the quarterback," said Jordan. "I'm really emphasizing watching film and just trying to steal things from players that've been here before and players that've already been through this process and in the NFL."

Jordan was an All-Pac-12 first teamer in 2011.
