Irish win first cross-town match with Axe

EUGENE, OR - Yadie Dunmore and Frank Bornstein each scored 16 points for the Irish as Sheldon defeated South Eugene 58-49 Thursday night.
The Irish took a 17 point lead in the third quarter when Jordan Alexander hit a three-pointer to make it 46-29. Alexander finished with 12 points.
The Axemen rallied in the fourth quarter to close to within six points on a bucket from Eli Lininger. He had 12 in the game.
But South could get no closer as Sheldon made its free throws down the stretch.
The Irish move to 10-5 overall and 2-1 in Special District 1 play.
The teams will play again on February 19.
