The 80s Team Day
Friday, June 27, 2008
11 a.m. - 11:30 p.m.

This day acknowledges the last Olympic Team decided at Hayward Field which was unable to compete because of the boycott of the Moscow Games. The Eugene 08 Festival will showcase 1980's music and highlights from the 1980 Trials.

The Oregon Air National Guard will conduct an F-15 flyover during the opening ceremonies. Two F-15s from the 173rd Fighter Wing in Klamath Falls will fly over Hayward Field at approximately 5:25 p.m. as the opening ceremony concludes.

Free Spectator Shuttles – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to midnight

Festival Stage

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – On the video screen: 1980 Trial Highlights and testimonials, Vin Lananna Welcome, History of Hayward Field.
11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. – Opening & welcome by government officials - Olympic Trials ticket giveaway.
12:30 p.m. - 1 p.m. – Fan Dancers
1 p.m. to 10 p.m. – Live coverage of meet, Simulcast from Hayward video, Opening Ceremony, 1980 athlete profiles.
3 p.m. – Welcome of the 1980 Team Members on the Festival Stage (athletes will be available for autographs and photographs in the Festival afterwards)
5 p.m. – Simulcast of Opening Ceremonies from Haywawrd Field.
10 to 11:15 p.m. – Music by G-Soul '80s (disco band) aka God's Soul.

Festival – 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Highlights include: Autographs and interviews of the 1980 Team, tree climbing by the Pacific Tree Climbing Institue, citizens cycling to create energy at the Track Town Power Station presented by Safeway and author signings at the Track Town booth.

Starting Block – 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Activities include: 80s Trivia Questions with prizes to win and outdoor movie “Fire on the Track” at 10 p.m.  and a walking tour to Pre's Rock at 11:30 a.m.

Competition 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Hayward Field opens at noon.
