EUGENE, Ore. -- Just one year ago, Eugene was gearing up for the Olympic trials.

Now, Track Town is back on the national stage not for Olympic gold but national glory as host city of the USA Track and Field Championships.

Down at Hayward Field, workers are setting up the fan fest area where athletes and fans can hang out or get some food.

The championships will be held here at Hayward Field this Thursday through Sunday. | Schedule

Organizers said the meet won't be as large as last year's trials but will showcase some of the nation's best track and field athletes as they compete for a chance to go to the world championships in Berlin.

Several athletes from the University of Oregon and from the area will be competing.

Fan fest opens up this Thursday at 9 in the morning. It will close about 30 minutes after the final event.

Organizers say no streets will be closed this year.

There will also be an LTD shuttle from Autzen Stadium to Hayward Field and valet bike parking.
