The Sheldon Irish will play for the 6A state baseball championship against Clackamas on Saturday at 5:00 in Keizer, SHS last made a title appearance on the diamond in 1966. Assistant coach Jim Fryback was there as a player for Sheldon in '66.

Sheldon knocked off Roseburg on Tuesday in the 6A semifinals to advance to Saturday's title game against Clackamas at 5:00 in Keizer.

The Churchill Lancers had a heartbreaking loss at Hermiston on Tuesday falling 5-4 in eight innings to the Bulldogs in the 5A softball semifinals. West Albany fell in the other semi 3-1 at Sandy.

Sheldon junior Haleigh Krause fired a final round one-under 71 to finish in third place five-shots back at the 6A State Golf Championships at Quail Valley in Banks. The Irish won the team title at +48, good for a 17-stroke win over West Linn with a second round state record 306.
