KVAL News partner named official Tour of California sponsor
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The 2012 edition of the Amgen Tour of California is coming through Bakersfield, and, on Tuesday, KBAK/KBFX was named the official TV sponsor for the Bakersfield stage of the cycling race.
KBAK/KBFX and BakersfieldNow.com are the Southern California news partners of KVAL News and KVAL.com in Eugene, Ore.
Bakersfield was named in November as one of 13 host cities. Cyclists will compete over more than 750 miles from May 13-20, beginning in Santa Rosa, hometown of three-time Tour of California champion Levi Leipheimer, and ending in downtown Los Angeles.
The largest cycling event in America, the Tour of California is a Tour de France-style road race.
Bakersfield, which saw the finish of 2010's Stage 5 along the Panorama Bluffs, will play a key role this time with the "much-anticipated individual time trial," race organizers said in November.
