We got Lukki because in the summer of 2004, I left a note with Scamps in VRC asking to call if anyone tries to get rid of a female golden retriever and they can't take it. That next weekend (Labor Day weekend '04) we got a call while in Medford, and I had a friend pick her up because we wouldn't be home until the next day. It was blind faith she was the right dog, but there is no doubt she was meant to be ours. She is a certified therapy dog that can sense anxiety in people and wouldn't leave my side when I was suffering from panic attacks! Now that I don't have them as often, she seems to be able to find the one person in any room who may need comforting. It is pretty amazing!
