We adopted Markus when he was only 2 days old. When he was 4 days old, his heart and breathing stopped. He had been pre-natally exposed to drugs. For the next 1 1/2 years, he was in and out of the hopsital every month or two. Our beloved pediatrician, Dr. Roe, always gave us hope and encouragement. We didn't know if the prenatal drugs would affect his growth, his health or his life. As time went on, he showed a remarkable interest for life, especially wildlife. He is up early in the morning "communicating" with his friends, the birds. He has a huge vocabulary..."Mom, I think these snakes like this habitat, because there are so many here." Now, at 5 years of age, he is the most dramatic little boy you could meet. He wants to be a zoologist (he doesn't quite prohounce it correctly, but it is obvious what he is trying to say). It has been amazing, and such a joy, to watch our little baby, grow into such a curious little boy, who makes us laugh daily. The future will be bright for our son, whom we love so much.
