Sesquicentennial of the start of the American Civil War commemorated by flying four Flags. From left-to-right: Our current 50-Star Flag, the 33-Star Fort Sumter Flag, the Confederate States Army "Battle" Flag, and the State of Oregon Flag (33rd State).

Sesquicentennial Of The Civil War

Today, Tuesday, April 12th, 2011, marks the Sesquicentennial (150th Anniversary) of the start of the American Civil War. On April 12th, 1861 Confederate forces opened fire on Fort Sumter and its garrison of Union soldiers.

To commemorate the event, I am flying four Flags in front of my house. The four Flags are our current 50-Star flag, the 33-Star "Fort Sumter" Flag, the CSA's "Battle Flag", and the State of Oregon Flag. I had wanted to fly the CSA's "1st National" Flag but was unable to obtain a suitable version of one in time.
