Happy FLAG DAY, Everybody!!!
We're celebrating Flag Day by flying our Flags here on Donovan Drive. In front of our living room windows (back left) there is a 6'x10' American Flag and in front of the garage (back right) is a 8'x12' American Flag. In front of our house, from left to right, we are flying our current 50-Star Flag, the Revolutionary War "era" 13-Star "Betsy Ross" Flag, the Civil War era 33-Star "Fort Sumter" Flag ("The Flag That Started A War"), and of course, our State of Oregon Flag!!!
234 years ago, on June 14th, 1777, in order to establish an official flag for the new nation, the Continental Congress passed the first "Flag Act", which in only one sentence reads:
"Resolved, That the flag of the United States be made of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation."
Happy FLAG DAY, Everybody!!!
