I think it is relevant to mention that the "employee?" was a young boy and that he was not in the room at the time of the attack.

It is also important to mention that the attack was led by 3 pitbulls, a breed known for dog on dog aggression and that a daycare has a responsibility to its clients and should not take any breeds that are known for this type of aggression.

Dog on dog aggression is very different than aggression toward humans, so no matter how socialized the pet, the characteristics of its breed need to be considered by this type of facility.

Lastly, I am sure the dog's owner would appreciate any donations toward his care.

My ex-wife got my 11 year old son a white 1 yr old male pitbull, against my direct orders not to - she sometimes boards it at LOTP. Was one of the attacking dogs a white male pitbull ? A very worried father needs to know.

Dear Bob - the incident happened last Friday, Dec 28th in the afternoon, so I don't know if your dog was there. All I know is everytime I go, there are 3-4 pits. I am the owner of Jasper. I don't think I will ever know the full truth.

I would also like to add that although I was offered financial help from LOTP, it has not transpired yet in any form. His care has cost over $5000 so far, but he's doing good and home now. He has so many bites you can't count them.

I am SO saddened to hear about what happened to your poor Jasper. My heart goes out to you both. My ex-husband wrote to you earlier wondering if my lab-pit mix was there at that time...I would like to respond that no, he was not.

I was sick to read of the attack on Jasper and am anxious to know how he's doing. He is in my thoughts constantly and I wish him a speedy recovery.

I'm glad your dog wasn't there. Alledgedly 2-3 other dogs that were boarding that day also had 1-3 puncture wounds from being in the fight. Jasper does have the 12 torn rip bites that could be indicative of a pitbull attack, but I wasn't there.

I read this story and was heartbroken. I own a dog day care in Corvallis, OR. and although I own a pitbull, she or any other pitbulls aren't allowed in the facility due to their innate genetic makeup of aggression towards other animals. So sorry.

As I was saying - they've been bred for a purpose. I have a few friends who have pits and both have had them attack humans or other animals - 99% of the time, they are great, but in that 1% split second, the trigger can go off.

my sister owned pits and she was very responsible with her dogs in my view no one should be aloud to have one with proper permits and take course's in how to care for one properly and then if you need daycare there should be a proper place fro that

You sound like a wonderfully caring owner and I'm sure with help, perhaps from behaviourist, your dog will recover from his mental trauma as well as the physical scars. I do hope, also that you receive compensation from the doggy day care owners

I am so very sorry to hear about what happened to your dear friend Jasper. I own a Dog and Cat Broading kennel in Elmira Or and was thinking about adding doggy day care, but now I may have to rethink that idea. We hope he is recovering well.

I have nothing against doggy daycares, just ones that have a lack of supervision or poorly trained employees. It's definitely not an easy thing to run! And I admire the ones who do it well.

So happy Jasper is doing well. Thank God you love him. Have you received any compensation from that doggy daycare? Do you still owe the veterinarian for services? If so, please let me know who the vet is. God bless you and Jasper.

I have not received any compensation whatsoever from the owner of the daycare despite his promise to pay the vet bills multiple times, once even on Fox network TV. It's been 5 weeks now.

I would also like to add that vet care in the Springfield ER clinic requires cash/credit up front before they even administer services or they will not touch your dog. That is something to keep in mind as a dog owner.

So sorry for your dog, it's terrible that the owner is so irresponsible, I hope his day care goes under. He's lucky you haven't sued him for the medical expenses and mental trauma.

The daycare is still in business. He was recently advertising in Craig's list for extra help. A few months after the incident and after I did hire a lawyer, a specialist in animal law practice, he did come up with partial payment of the vet bills.

dear gallatea, and bob I know that you may think that pitbulls are bad dogs but they really arent they are loving dogs that are probably one of the most loving animals that i have ever met and just because one pitbull attacks doesnt mean...

that it has to ruin it for all the other dogs not to deserve a good home from what they hear. well i have a pitbull and she is the most loving thing on this earth when i cry she is right there to make me laugh or pick up my tears when they fall well.

i just want you to know that just because of one inncident because of a bad owner doesnt mean anything my dog has never growled at me or my little siblings or any human so it just depends on how they are raised and how the owner treats them.

This isn't about pitbulls, this is about grouping 13 dogs of inappropriate temperament with little to no supervision. I have seen nice pitbulls, so I believe you, but the shelters wouldn't be more than half full with them if they were so great.

just had the same thing happen today to my mother's border collie. The daycare, whom I have taken both of my dogs to with good results, took in a pit bull and didn't realize that the dog had dug under the fence. The pit bull mangled my mother's dog

Was the owner of the pit bulls in anyway responsible for any of the costs? I know the daycare is, but I was wondering if you were compensated by anyone else.

shelters aren't any more full w/ pit bulls than they are labs or mixed breeds. there are some shelters that have a higher concentration of pit bulls b/c they are in areas that have a problem w/ fighting rings - idiotic morons just let them loose if
