The railroad route, that was shut down several years ago between Eugene and North Bend/Coos Bay because of alleged maintenance problems in the tunnels and on the trestles was purchased last year by those cities and after much work and effort it is up and running. My husband took these pictures today from the top of our property overlooking the Fiddle Creek Arm of Siltcoos Lake as the train took its first trip across the trestle in a long, long time.
Seeing that train up and running gave him such a good feeling, as though it was a sign of better things ahead. I hope he is right.
