Mother from Monroe, OR attempted to cross Old River Road early this morning. Landowner awoke this morning to find the Sheriff Dept in his driveway and a woman perched on top of roof. She was quickly rescued by a boat and is in good health.
This section of the road has a Dike that was built in the mid 60's and forces the Willamette River to flow at full force over the road. Even the biggest and baddest of rigs dont attempt this crossing in these conditions. However, I did notice that neither high water signs where up or flashing. Could be why she attempted it.

I am sorry but in this section a high water sign is not needed! You can tell it is fast moving water just by looking. Maybe she needs her license taken away if she is that clueless!! There is no excuse for dumb decisions and it is no one elses fault.
