For Immediate Release:

Rainy Day Blues Society has Moved!

Rainy Day Blues Societies monthly RDBS Live Events has moved to the Coburg Road Red Lion Inn. The February monthly Rainy Day Blues Society meeting at the Red Lion Inn will be February 16th, 2012 at 205 Coburg Road in Eugene. The RDBS Live Events start at 6:30 pm, end at 9:00 pm and feature both an Acoustic blues act and an Electric Blues act. Both members and the general public are invited and welcome.

Performance Headliner at the Thursday, February 16th RDBS Live Event at Red Lion Inn is Walker T. Ryan.

"Walker T Ryan is a blues icon in Eugene (Oregon)." Ken Kesey – author

"Walker never preaches. He tells stories and lets us see the truth with our
Own eyes. It sticks deeper that way. Walker has the soul of and Irish
Storyteller with a bluesman's musical vocabulary, never failing to
Acknowledge and honor the African roots of the blues in his shows, while
explaining the contributions of immigrants and po' whites, crazies and
characters off all colors.

Hence the fitting title "Underdog-American Music. His familiar-feeling yet inventively original songs speak of huge truths in the language of the working people, with words that fit around real and sometimes raw feelings, not cleverly constructs from a rhyming dictionary." - TR Kelley- shaman and musician

Walker T. Ryan started playing guitar when he was thirteen, quickly showing an interest and affinity for the blues. He plays rhythm driven blues guitar, Texas, Delta, originals, straight and slide -- from Mississippi guitar trance music to Mississippi John Hurt Saturday night fish-fry finger picking.

Here at home, I'm not looking for work any more. And someone else can do "the road." It's their turn. But I entertain invitations, and when my good friend, Jon Silvermoon, calls and asks me to do an opening, solo, blues set of reasonable length for a great lineup at his Winter Blues Festival, I am there.
I'm on at 7pm. Saturday February 18th, Cozmic Pizza, Eugene 1st Annual Eugene Winter Blues Festival with Walker T Ryan, Lady Bianca, Bill Rhoades and The Party Kings (with Henry Cooper), and The Vipers.

The Rainy Day Blues Society is producing and soon releasing CD media recordings of RDBS Live Event performances from 2011. These CD’s and the groups on them will be promoted nationally, regionally and locally by the society. Audience members at RDBS Live Events actually get to see history in the making while viewing the concert that is a live recording session.

The Red Lion Inn anticipates a great partnership for RDBS’s business. They are creating a special menu for RDBS members on the meeting nights and have been very excited to provide a great place to meet. There is lots of parking, all ages’ access during meetings (RDBS LIVE Events), and a great environment for RDBS meetings. The Red Lion Inn is also very excited to be part of Eugene’s blues community.

The Rainy Day Blues Society (http://www.rainydayblues.org) is a non-profit corporation affiliated with the Blues Foundation (http://www.blues.org). The purpose of RDBS is simply to “preserve, promote and enhance Blues music” in Eugene and the surrounding locale. Rainy Day Blues Society has several activities dedicated to its purpose including “Blues in the Schools”, The Under 21 blues Jam at the Lesson Factory, The Over 21 Blues Jam at the Lesson Factory, its Monthly RDBS Live events featuring blues artists in the acoustic and electric categories, a blues Museum project and much more.

If you would like to join the Rainy Day Blues Society it can be done at the RDBS website, simply attend an RDBS Live Event (meeting) or you can contact membership chair, Bea Allen by email at gha@gci.net.
