Topic of discussion on our Acorn Park Neighbors group Facebook page lately has centered around our recent surge of problems with drug use and sales in the park, graffiti vandalism on the playground equipment and repeated auto break-ins in the area surrounding Acorn Park. Proof in point? I walked my dog in the park this morning and found this syringe on the ground at the North East corner of the park. I've reported it to the Eugene Police online reporting system, since the syringe is still in it's original packaging including reference and lot numbers which could be used to track the syringe from the manufacturer to its local purchaser; possibly a lead on how this item made it's way into our community. Our neighborhood community is actively seeking increased police patrols around Acorn Park in the early morning hours, 1am to 3am, when we see the most illegal activity. Neighbors are putting up exterior cameras on their homes, installing security warning signs on their properties, and working together on ideas for creative ways that we can be active in deterring the constant illegal activities going on in our neighborhood.
