I was out along the Coast Fork of the Willamette river when I noticed this sun dog in the sky. I said to myself, WOW, gotta get a picture of this. I'm surprised how well the image turned out. I think I was told that sun dogs are caused by sunlight reacting with very high altitude ice crystals in the atmosphere. The white lines in the image are very high altitude aircraft contrails.
