Today around noon in Salem a strange rainbow encircle the sun. The inside of the circle was darker than the sky outside of the ring. In some areas, a second rainbow seemed to be forming encircling the first rainbow. It lasted for hours until the clouds disappeared.
My 8 yr old took the picture of me wearing sun glasses while looking at the ring and blocking the sun with my hand.
Halo around the sun.

Last May while on vacation near Tulum, Mexico-about 1 1/2 hrs South of Cancun-I also saw a rainbow encircle the sun, and a second faint rainbow outside of it. I was able to snap a photo, the sun was so intense I only captured a glimps of it!
