Osprey Aerie

I spotted an aerie alongside Highway 101 between Gardiner and Florence so I pulled off to take a photo of the nest. As I was just raising my camera, an osprey flew into the nest but I wasn't ready to get a shot. As I clicked photos, I noticed the osprey's mate was already in the nest, probably sitting on their eggs. In at least one of the photos, both birds are visible - at least the head of the second one is, peering over the top of the nest at me.

Thanks Kim! I was so jazzed to see the birds in the nest! I'm going back on a sunny morning. When there's bright light from the east, I should be able to get some very sharp photos...if the osprey aren't out fishing, that is!

These are some excellent shots, really nice. That bird is really eyeballing the camera, for sure...Thank you VERY much for sharing!
