Wizard Falls on the Metolius River

It had been a LONG time since we had been to Camp Sherman to enjoy the river and it's peace and quiet. Wizard Falls at the fish hatchery it always so beautiful with it's clear deep blue water.

Hi Kim. I have also been to Alaska and seen that deep blue in the ice. It is due to the thickness and density of the ice. Really neat to see in person.

That's funny you should mention the glacier or iceberg's effect in Alaska. My parents sent me a similar photo with the glacier water merging with the river - such amazing colors - this photo looks just like it!

Thanks Kim, for the nice comments. There is a deep cut in the lava rock in the middle of the river that makes the water so blue. It's kind of like the effect of a glacier's or iceberg's thickness in Alaska. Overcast sky prevented brighter color.

Thanks Debbie. No. Smith Rock has a bad memory for us. Shortly after we were married, by wife and I climbed to the top of Smith Rock and on the way down she fell and broke her wrist. Very painful experience for her. Mike
