I work near Junction City just off Hwy 99. For years we have been seeing a red fox at our facility. She wanders around the log yard in the day time in plain view, obviously not concerned with all of the people and equipment that are always around. The last few years during the spring we have been priveliged to be introduced to her pups.
I will never forget the morning I found five of her pups fighting over a nutria carcass that the mother had brought them. I actually had time to run and get a co-worker to come and watch with me as they battled over the prize. They seemed to take turns fighting for dominance. We were suprised at the ferocity with which they tore into each other, focused as they were with us watching from a mere ten feet away. When it was over the winner crouched growling over his prize surrounded by his four litter mates all of whom were panting heavily. In a word unbarebly CUTE.
Since these photos were taken we have not seen the mother fox and think that maybe she came to a natural end. I know that she has been seen on the property for many years as an adult (eight years that I personally recall).
A couple of times I have glimpsed a young fox in the neighborhood on my way home from work. I think it is kind of rare to see a fox in the daytime. I wonder if it is one of her babies on their own and doing well. I like to think so.

When I submitted the story I did not have any video of the foxes. So I included the only video I had that was taken at work. That is why the first thing you view does not have anything to do with what I wrote in the article. Interesting video though.
