This evening, a truck turned over on Highway 58, between the Lookout Point Lake dam and Dexter Lake, blocking both directions of traffic. It is suspected that the truck went around a corner marked 45 MPH at a considerably higher speed. The truck turned on it's side and skidded several hundred feet. An ODOT worker was heard to say that while it was a long slide, that it was not a record for that corner.

I'm an Oakridge resident who drives hwy 58 regularly. I am amazed at the careless fools who drives in excess of the speed limit, pass in double yellow line zones, and on blind corners. It is of concern to those of us who obey the laws. Be safe!

My guess he was one of those people I usually met at the I-5 & Hwy 58 interchange. Everyone coming from Hwy 58 to northbound I-5 seem to think they have to be doing 75-80 when entering I-5 when it is clearly marked with a 3' x 4' 55 MPH sign.

Well I hope no one else tries to set a record for this corner. truckers and four wheelers need to start slowing down. Just because this is a country highway doesn't make it the race track.
