Local Rocker Help Against Hunger

FOODAPALOOZA 2009
SATURDAY, APRIL 18th
AGATE HALL

FOODAPALOOZA 2009 is an all volunteer base of local Eugene area musicians, their families, fans and friends, that are putting forth an effort to help their community in a time of need, that is touching more and more people everyday, that is HUNGER.
According to a report from the USDA, 5% of Oregon households were “food insecure” with hunger between 2000- 2002. With Unemployment rising towards double digits those numbers increased to 12.4% between 2005-2007. This increase has caused a larger number of families to depend on the dwindling resources of the local food banks. It is times like these that events like FOODAPALOOZA 2009 become a primary resource to help in the fight against hunger.
This year we have the members of SIX of the local areas hardest working bands stepping up to the fight and joining forces in FOODAPALOOZA 2009. This year’s line-up consists of the bands HOLLOWMAN, LYCKWYD (pronounced ‘Liquid‘), HYDING JEKYLL, BROKEN CELL, INVANE and PHAMOUS PHACES (pronounced ‘Famous Faces‘).

“We are a part of this community and believe that’s it’s events like this really show a communities strength and responsibilities. People of all ages can come enjoy a great musical event while helping to contribute to others as well “

This year’s event will be held at Agate Hall on the U of O campus. THIS IS AN ALL AGES SHOW, NO DRUGS, NO ALCOHOL, NO FIGHTING. The event kicks off at 5:00 p.m. and goes to 11:00 p.m. Admission to the event is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 with a can of food. Ages 13 and under, just $3.00, or FREE with a canned food donation. There will also be raffle prizes with all proceeds going to the food box drive and refreshments supplied by Cub Scout Pack # 84.
