Lurking in the moist crease of a tidepool on the Oregon Coast, seastars feed on muscles. Yumm!
Fist-shaped sea stars likely feeding on something inside, but we came across one with a tentacle draped inside an open shell. Pictures just don't do the muscle's dilemma justice.
Side note: Circa 1986 at Camp Westwind, my sixth grade Outdoors School teachers insisted on use of the term "seastars" since "starfish" aren't fish. A couple decades later, I'm still marveling at 'em and calling 'em seastars.
