Aftermath of Accident on Highway 20

Serious Crash on Highway 20 West

At approximately 7:00 AM this morning a white Ford Escort was being driven west on US Highway 20, west of Corvallis near milepost 32, when the driver lost control, crossed the center line and hit an eastbound mini van nearly head-on.

According to Leiutenant Kelly Collins fof the Oregon State Police Newport Office, the driver of the Ford Escort drifted to the right side of the road, striking the guardrail and then crossed the center line striking a Maroon Mini van that was heading the opposite direction.

A total of six patients were transported to the hospital, two were flown by helicopter. The right front passenger of the Ford Escort was transported via helicopter to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis and Collins stated that the patient was in critical but stable condition. The right front passenger of the mini van was transported via helicopter to a Portland Hospital. No other patient information is known at this time.

Highway 20 was reopened about 10:45 this morning.
