Yesterday morning, (1-16-10) as I was turning onto 42nd in Springfield, I saw this Bald Eagle across the street on the lawn. The Eagle had something in it talons. I could not tell what it was. I quickly pulled over, grabed my camera and started shooting. It turned out the Eagle had a dead Canadian Goose and took off with it. I got back in the car and headed in the Eagle's direction. The Eagle had flown a couple hundred feet down the street to the Cheveron gas station and dropped the Goose there. The workers at the Chevron station were all outside talking about the Eagle and the Goose. Who knows, the Goose may have been too heavy for the Bald Eagle. The Eagle had landed in a nearby tree and was keeping a watchful eye on the lost prize. The workers at the Chevron station had moved the goose to a near by grassy area, hoping the Eagle would come back and get it. I didn't stay around long enough to see if the Eagle came back for his prized goose. I did feel sorry for the goose, but it was an amazing site to see.
