#12 Georg Gold takes a shot on Goal aginst Tahoma

Churchill Lacrosse Opens Season with Win

3/12/10: On a night where cold and wet were a prevailing theme at Halvorsen Field, Lancer Lacrosse hosted Tahoma from Maple Valley, Washington in their season opener. As the first game of their young season arrived, Team Churchill was anxious to take the field and demonstrate their abilities. It was obvious that the Lancers had a Dog Fight on their hands and it was going to take a team effort to be victorious. Stepping up to the challenge, goals were scored by Team Captains Georg Gold and Ben Conway along with Brandon Determan and Kyle Salisbury just to name a few. Defense proved to be the game winner in the second half with excellent Goalie play by Montana Ostrander and Long Polemen John Cook and Taylor Derlacki. In truth, the entire Lancer Team could be named for their superior play and skillfull presence as they beat their visitors in a close contest 11 to 10. Churchill Lacrosse is part of the Willamette Conference in the Oregon High School Lacrosse Association. Coached by Jay Dodge and Nick Santini, both Varsity and JV teams will host Clackamas from the Three Rivers Conference this Monday, March 14th.

Another telling stat about the great Lancer Defense was the down 3 men situation where the Lancers held Tahoma scoreless! The D poles really stepped up and Montana had some terrific saves. Go D !!!!

Never give up! The guys were down by 3 in the second half. Cold, wet, and tired they hung in there with great offensive plays by Georg, Ben, and Brandon and hard fought defensive battles won by Jon and Taylor with several awesome saves by Montana!
