3-15-10: A cool but comfortable evening in West Eugene was the setting for an all out brawl with gloves, sticks, blood and sweat. No, this was not an opening chapter in a new gang wars novel, this was a turf war of Lacrosse between the Churchill Lancers and the Clakamas Caveliers. Throughout the four quarter contest, the lead had changed three times and tied four and yet, at the end of regulation play, both teams were faced with a 10 - 10 tie that would come down to a 4 minute sudden death overtime. Churchill won the face off but was unable to capitalize only to see Clackamas win on the least exciting goal of the evening. The Churchill offensive attack was lead by Ben Conway, Brandon Determan, Georg Gold and Gunnar Shelton. The defense was lead by the veteran Long Poleman Jon Cook and a supporting cast of Brynnan Hyland and Middie Robert WIllie. A great crowd of Lancer LAX faithful were on hand to cheer their play. The Lancers are 1 - 1 and will travel to Sherwood High School near Portland this Friday, March 19th. Coach Jay Dodge was proud of his Lancers and complimented their play and sportsmanship. The Lancers were fortunate to have adhoc coaches Justin Eckenroad and Patrick San Jose, both Churchill Alumni now playing Lacrosse with the University of Oregon.
