The WNIT playoff game between the Lady Ducks of Oregon and the California Golden Bears was a fast and furious competitive game. Here are some photos of the Duck's fast break in action during the contest.
After the opening tip-off, the Cal Bears drove for a 2 point basket. However, the Lady Ducks came roaring back immediately with a fast break.
In the first photo of this set, 5'8" senior guard Micaela Cocks ( #2 ) pulls up outside the 3 point line, and fires off a shot that went true and right into the basket. The Ducks were now ahead, 3 to 2 !!
Later in the game, with the Ducks now trailing 12 to 13, they again came roaring down the court again in a fast break. This time, 5'6" senior guard Taylor Lilley ( #1 ) was checked at the top of the key. However, she quickly spotted 6' sophomore Jasmin Holliday ( #30 ) wide open in the corner. In the second photo, you see Lilley firing off a fast pass to the open Holliday.
The Bears are outmaneuvered, and cannot respond in time. In the third and last photo, you see Holliday wide open to take an easy shot, and put the Ducks back into the lead.
As Holliday makes the shot, you can see California head coach Joanne Boyle sitting on the bench nearby, and gasping mouth wide open in horror at the sight of the undefended shot.
